Mumbai City Architect Prem Nath – Advice to the CM of Maharashtra for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj – Statue Project should be shifted to 300 acre Proposed Central Park of Cuffe Parade. It will reduce 2000Cr of expensive Infrastructure & Reclamation Cost
The unfortunate incident of mishap which has happened for a VIP trip of high profile officials who enjoy all the benefit safety should be an awakening for the offshore project of CSM Statue.
CSM – Statue is a landmark project which will inspire the masses, particularly pride for Maharashtrians from small towns who would love to come to Mumbai to visit the CSM Statue.
Such a landmark should be easily accessible to general public all throughout the year.
The Island location in the Arabian sea off Mumbai coast is definitely not the right location, as this is not easily accessible particularly to the masses.
It will require cost of Rs. 2000 Cr for infrastructure – like jetties – transportation system & expensive reclamation, yet prone to calamities and safety hazards and expensive ongoing maintenance.
Govt of Maharashtra / MCGM is planning 300 Acre of Central Park at Cuffe Parade, which will have access from road and metro network all throughout the year, and shall be less costly for the masses to visit the location of proposed Central Park at Cuffe Parade and Hence, It is highly advisable, that the proposed CSM – Statue project should be shifted in the 300 Acre proposed central park at Cuffe Parade .
